Patient Details:
Our patient underwent double mastectomy for breast cancer, she didn’t have enough abdominal tissue alone to restore her breast volume. For patients like this, we offered a hybrid DIEP flap where we took all the lower abdominal tissue and used it to cover an implant, giving her a healthy cushion of fat over the implant for a natural reconstruction all in one stage. We also reconnected nerves to provide sensation to the breast in the same surgery followed by 3-D nipple and areola tattooing. This procedure offers our patients natural restored breasts, refined abdominal contouring and sensation all in one surgery. She is now cancer free, and looking and feeling better than she did before her diagnosis achieving our goals.
