Bilateral Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator Flap Reconstruction (DIEP)
Before & After Photos
Surgeries performed by renowned plastic surgeons of East Coast Advanced Plastic Surgery
Patient Details:
38 year old BRCA positive patient who elected for bilateral mastectomies. Secondary to her genetic mutation, and the non-presence of cancer, we were afforded the luxury of time to perform pre-mastectomy breast lifts in order to situate the nipple-areola complex in a position that would allow her to be a candidate for nipple sparing mastectomies. Mastectomies were performed with initial tissue expander placement secondary to patient’s high BMI, and therefore, non-candidacy for DIEP flap reconstruction. Eventual successful weight loss allowed for DIEP flap reconstruction to proceed in a safe manner. Her remarkable transformation throught safe breast reconstruction planning is readily noted.
